Open Call For Collaborators

Although primarily a solo project, Songs of the New Erotics has occasionally involved collaborators in performances and recordings and continues to be entirely open to collaborative work.

In the early 90's a S.O.T.N.E. flyer was distributed amongst mail-art and cassette-network contacts. The following text has been adapted from that flyer and is presented here as an ongoing invitation:

Songs of the New Erotics, a recording/performance project headed by polymedia artist W.A.Davison (under the aegis of Disembraining Songs), is looking for collaborators. Specifically, S.O.T.N.E. is looking for a variety of audio material to be used (i.e. sampled, manipulated, cut-up, re-combined, etc.) in their studio compositions. If you have audio material to contribute, get in touch with W.A.Davison at

Of particular interest to S.O.T.N.E. is material which lends itself to an Absurdist or Surrealist interpretation. Recording quality is unimportant. All collaborators will be credited as members of S.O.T.N.E. on recording liner notes and will receive a copy of the recording they appear on (unfortunately this is the only payment that can be made). Copyright for all material submitted remains with its creator but permission is given to S.O.T.N.E. to use submitted material as described above. Copyright of all finished S.O.T.N.E. compositions, recordings, etc. is owned exclusively by S.O.T.N.E. (although open to negotiation). Please label all recordings submitted and include your name (real or assumed), address, and any info regarding yourself and/or your contribution. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!
